Overland Adventure (A) – Cape & Namibia (13 Days)

Cape Town, Springbok, Fish River Canyon, Helmeringhausen, Sesriem, Swakopmund, Outjo, Etosha & Windhoek

This tour takes you from southwest South Africa, to northern Namibia. You will make many stops on the way, with ample time to explore the cultural and wildlife highlights. You will travel in a Premium Overland Safari Vehicle, which guarantees each traveller a window seat for ultimate comfort and spectacular views.

Day 01: Arrive Cape Town (-/-/-)

You will be met on arrival in Cape Town and transferred to your hotel for the night. A brief departure meeting will be held at approximately 6:00pm for you to meet your group and Tour Leader, as well as review any tour details.

Day 02: Cape Town – Springbok (B/-/D)

Depart Cape Town early in the morning and start travelling to Springbok. Often referred to as the Garden of the Gods, beautiful flowers blossom here amongst valleys and granite domes.

Drive Time: 7 hours

Day 03: Springbok – Fish River Canyon (B/-/D)

Continue on your way to famous Fish River Canyon. The second largest canyon in the world, the magnitude of it will astound you!

Drive Time: 6 hours

Day 04: Fish River Canyon – Helmeringhausen (B/-/D)

Today you will travel further north to Helmeringhausen, a settlement area that is home to a hotel, petrol station, and homestead. After you check in to your accommodation for the evening you will have free time to explore the area. The area is perfect for bird watching or going on a self guided hike.

Day 05: Helmeringhausen – Sesriem (B/-/D)

Travel in to the stunning Namib Desert, where you will stop at a small settlement called Sesriem. There is a beautiful natural canyon carved deep in to the rock here, providing the areas main attraction.

Day 06: Sesriem (B/-/D)

You will have an early start today as you travel to Dune 45, as it is best to climb when it is cooler. The stunning vibrant orange dune is well worth the early wake up call. After time here you will continue towards the entrance of Sossusvlei, travelling through the Namib Desert (the oldest desert in the world). In the afternoon you will explore the Sesriem Canyon, admiring the natural beauty.

Drive Time: 5 + 3 hours

Day 07: Sesriem – Swakopmund (B/-/-)

Head further north today, and slightly west as well, towards the Namibian coast. On arrival in Swakopmund the rest of the day is free at your leisure. Don’t forget to visit one of the local bakeries or cafes for delicious local cuisine.

Drive Time: 7 hours

Day 08: Swakopmund (B/-/-)

The day is free at your leisure for you to explore Swakopmund. Walk along the beach and brave the cool waters of the Atlantic, or visit the Kristal Gallery, home to the largest Quartz Crystal Cluster in the world. Venture in to one of the many shops for souvenirs, or relax at a local bakery. If you would prefer something more active, why not add on an optional activity such as quad biking or skydiving* (surcharges apply).

Day 09: Swakopmund – Outjo (B/-/D)

Continue further north to Outjo, known as the entrance to famous Etosha National Park. This small city is home to approximately 6,000 people. On your way to Outjo you will visit the pointed dome of Spitzkoppe, also known as the Matterhorn of Namibia. These granite peaks create incredible rock formations, and are filled with traditional bushman paintings. Explore the area at your own pace, or join an optional guided tour* (surcharges apply).

Drive Time: 6 hours

Day 10: Outjo – Etosha National Park (B/-/D)

After breakfast you will travel to Etosha National Park! Stop on the way at the Himba settlement. The Himba Tribe is famous for covering their bodies in the distinctive ochre of the area, giving their skin and hair a red glow. On arrival in Etosha you will venture on your first official Game Drive! Look out for elephants, the endangered black rhino, zebra, and more! The National Park is home to over 100 species of mammals, as well as multiple birds including flamingos and pelicans. In the evening you can relax around fenced waterholes and watch as the local wildlife comes close.

Drive Time: 1.5 hours

Day 11: Etosha National Park (B/-/D)

Enjoy a full day of Game Drives in the National Park. Get up close and personal to the magnificent wildlife, as you venture through the Park in your Premium Overland Safari Vehicle. You can also add on an optional night Game Drive* (surcharges apply).

Day 12: Etosha National Park – Windhoek (B/-/-)

Say goodbye to the wildlife and travel south to Namibia’s capital, Windhoek. Check in your hotel hotel for the night, and the rest of the day is free for you to explore at your leisure. Marvel at the Gibeon Meteorites, wander through the mall, or learn about local culture and history at one of the many museums in town.

Drive Time: 7 hours

Day 13: Depart Windhoek (B/-/-)

After breakfast the day is free at your leisure until it is time to transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
