First built in 1420, The Temple of Heaven was originally built for the Emperors of the Ming Dynasty to hold their Heaven Worship Ceremony. It is China’s largest ancient and sacrificial buildings and is an architectural masterpiece and covers an area of 2,700,000 sq kms. The Temple of Heaven is divided by two encircling walls into an inner part and outer part with the most impressive buildings being the Circular Mound Altar, the Imperial Vault of Heaven and the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest.
