Day 01: Arrival at Cape Town International Airport – Stellenbosch (-/-/-)
Welcome to beautiful South Africa! Your English speaking driver will be waiting at Cape Town’s International airport and drive you safely to Stellenbosch, South Africa’s second oldest town. Stellenbosch is without doubt one of the most beautiful and well-kept towns in the country. Many original Cape Dutch buildings are situated in Dorp Street and its neighbouring streets in the vibrant old town. A must see is the Stellenbosch Village Museum, a museum complex of historical houses and furnished with period furniture depicts the life style of the inhabitants of this town from the 16th to the 18th century. Stellenbosch is surrounded by countless wineries and is the hub of the wine industry in the Western Cape. Overnight and breakfast at River Manor Country House.
Day 02: Stellenbosch (B/-/-)
Since Stellenbosch is the heart of the winelands, we have 3 different (North, South and East) wine tour routes operating on different days of the week (please note that Sunday is a no “vine” hopper day) Each tour starts at the adventure shop Stellenbosch (collection from Stellenbosch guesthouses possible with prior arrangements), corner Dorp and Mark Street between 9:30am and 10am. Each route entails stops at 5 or 6 different and fabulous wine estates, the driver will drop you off at the first one and will return to collect you an hour later to drive you to the next wine estate. Overnight and breakfast at River Manor Country House.
Day 03: Stellenbosch – Hermanus (B/-/-)
We are taking the costal route to Hermanus today, together with our English speaking driver. Travel along the majestic Helderberg Mountain towards Somerset West, a town known for its beautiful settings, various golf courses and an array of well-known wineries. Pass Gordon ́s Bay and enjoy the drive along the coastal road between sea and mountains, offering stunning views over False Bay all the way down to the Cape of Good Hope. Hermanus is our destination, tucked away at the end of Walker Bay. This holiday village is well known for its whales visiting the bay from July to November to mate and calve. The Southern Right whale is the most common to be seen. Overnight and breakfast at the Harbour House.
Day 04: Hermanus (B/-/-)
One of South Africa’s best kept secrets must be the Hermanus, aka Hemel en Aarde wine route, which meanders through the vineyards of the the Hemel en Aarde Valley.Discover an internationally-acclaimed choice and variety of wine to suit every palate. Experience an inspirational and unforgettable journey through the Heaven and Earth Valley with us! We have chosen a rather unusual method of transport in order to complement this unique experience, an open safari vehicle. Overnight and breakfast at the Harbour House.
Day 05: Hermanus – Franschhoek (B/-/-)
You will be collected today by our English speaking driver, who will use the most scenic route to go to Franschhoek. First using the R 43, passing Botrivier and Villiersdorp and finally taking the R45 over the Franschhoek Pass, which will lead you directly into Franschhoek Village. Franschhoek, the French corner, dates back to 1688 when 200 French Huguenots were granted land in the area. The Huguenot memorial and the Huguenot museum give insight into the lives of the European refu- gees torn apart by religious wars. The village is surrounded by mountains and has a unique flair, almost that of a French village. Some of the best restaurants in South Africa offer outstanding cuisine. More than 20 wine farms are part of the Franschhoek wine route and are open for tastings. Use the afternoon for an optional, leisurely walk through the village. Overnight and breakfast at Protea Hotel Franschhoek.
Day 06: Franschhoek (B/-/-)
Today’s adventure starts at 9:45am from the ticket office right on Franschhoek main road. There’s a choice of different hop on-hop off lines, each showcasing eight wine estates so you have to let us know in advance which line you would like us to book: Blue, Red, Yellow or green line. A combination of tram and tram-bus transports passengers around a loop of stops allowing them to hop off at each stop and experience the activities on offer, from wine tastings to cellar tours, lunch or a simple stroll through the vineyards! When you‘re ready, simply hop on to the next available vehicle to continue the tour. Please keep in mind that wine tastings and food are for your own account. Wine estates close at 17h00, the perfect time to go home and get ready for dinner! Overnight and breakfast at Protea Hotel Franschhoek.
