This fantastic experience is a once in a lifetime tour, allowing another way to get a different perspective of a country that has so many diverse landscapes all within the same borders. Starting in the capital, the guided sightseeing covers visits to major tourist attractions, to experience the cultural heritage of India. As we then traverse north, through mesmerizing hill stations, we treat our eyes to breath-taking scenery and visit remote areas where cars are banded. Expect challenging landscapes, fun activities and sumptuous local food, while we enjoy this tour with a difference!
Day 01: Depart Australia – Arrive Delhi (-/-/-)
Fly to Delhi. On arrival, meet our executive at the arrival lounge and you will be transferred to the hotel.
Day 02: Delhi (B/-/D)
After breakfast we enjoy guided sightseeing tour of Old & New Delhi. Begin with Old Delhi as we drive past the renowned 17th Century landmark Lal Qila; the Red Fort Palace to reach Jama Masjid. Visit Jama Masjid; cycle rickshaws on our journey of Chandni Chowk. Visit the Gandhi Memorial before driving past New Delhi, the exterior the Parliament House, the War Memorial Arch (India Gate) and the Vice Regal Palace, the official residence of the President of India in New Delhi. Continue your sightseeing with the visit to Humayun’s Tomb and Qutub Minar.
Day 03: Delhi – Haridwar (B/-/D)
Board the express train to Haridwar – Gateway to Lord, early this morning. Haridwar is the place where Holy River Ganges leaves the Himalayan Hill and enters the plains of North India. The centre of Indian culture and Yoga. On arrival, transfer to the hotel for check-in. Later participate in the Grand prayer ceremony on the River Ganges which held every evening after the sun sets.
Day 04: Haridwar (B/-/D)
Start your day with an early morning visit to Har Ki Pairi to witness morning prayers at the temples and see people bathing in the Ganges, a symbol of worshipping the rising sun. We then return to the hotel for breakfast, before later visiting Chandi Devi Temple by taking the ropeway (cable car), giving you a scenic view of surrounding hills of Haridwar. Visit the various Ashrams on the ghats of the Ganges.
Day 05: Haridwar – Amritsar (B/-/D)
Morning is free at leisure until a transfer to the railway station to board the express train to Amritsar, a home to the most sacred shrine, ‘The Golden Temple’ and the most important holy place in Sikh religion. On Arrival, meet our guide at the platform and transfer to the hotel for check-in.
Day 06: Amritsar (B/-/D)
Morning visit the Golden Temple. The other attractions inside the shrine is the Guru Granth Sahib, the Holy Book of the Sikhs and the kitchen, which feeds about 10,000 pilgrims, 24hrs a day. Later visit Durginana Temple and Jallianwala Bagh and the Martyr’s Gallery before experiencing the change of guards ceremony at Wagah on the India-Pakistan border.
Day 07: Amritsar – Dharamshala (B/-/D)
After breakfast we then travel to Dharamshala – Home of the Dalai Lama. Enjoy a scenic ride through many small villages in the Himachal Valley.
Day 08: Dharamshala (B/-/D)
You will enjoy a panoramic view of the tea gardens, beautiful hills, colourful bazaar and colonial lifestyle while you visit Dalai Lama Temple, Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts, Dal Lake, Bhagsu Nag Temple (A Hindu Temple) and St. John’s Church.
Day 09: Dharamshala – Manali (B/-/D)
Travel to Manali, on the way enjoying the scenic ride and breathtaking beauty of this hill station. There are beautiful flowers, light
green pastures and fruit-laden orchards, providing a very picturesque landscape.
Day 10: Manali (B/-/D)
Morning excursion to Rohtang Pass for a panoramic view of the mighty Himalayas and glaciers. To the left of the pass lies the beautiful Doshohar Lake, where pilgrims come every year on the auspicious day of the 20th Bhadon. When afternoon comes we explore Manali Town.
Day 11: Manali – Shimla (B/-/D)
Morning proceeds for yet another scenic hill journey to Shimla. One of the most favoured hill stations in the British Era, the remnants of colonial-like structures are scattered around the city, mixed with its cool climate gives it a distinct romantic charm.
Day 12: Shimla (B/-/-)
Spend the day exploring this attractive hill station. Begin with a walk up to the Shimla’s highest peak and visit the Jakhu Hill Temple. We then call on Sankat Mochan Hindu temple followed by the beautiful Indian Institute of Advance study – the former residence of the British Viceroy of India, finishing at Himachal State Museum. This evening we explore local markets & stroll the Mall, some of the sights here include Vidhan Sabha, Kennedy House – the first permanent British house of Shimla, Gorton Castle, Gaiety Theatre, Town Hall and Catholic Church.
Day 13: Shimla – Delhi by Toy Train (B/-/D)
After breakfast, start your day on board the Himalayan queen train for an unforgettable journey with splendid views of snow-clad ranges of the Himalayas, covered with thickly populated forests of pine and oak. Arrive Kalka, change to the superfast train to Delhi.
Day 14: Depart Delhi (B/-/-)
Morning after breakfast, day at leisure until transfer to the airport for your flight home.
