Begin in the cosmopolitan Shanghai and cruise the majestic and mysterious Yangtze with its spectacular view of Three Gorges. Visit two wonders of the world-Terra Cotta Warriors and Great Wall in ancient capital Xi’an and current capital Beijing and much more. This special Journey we designed for you goes beyond Yangtze River to experience the incredible history and culture of this amazing country you have always dreamed of, with full of unexpected surprise.

Day 01: Depart Australia – Shanghai (-/-/-)

Board your morning flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival, meet and transfer to Sunrise On The Bund or similar for three nights stay.

Day 02: Shanghai (B/L/D)

Enjoy a tour of Shanghai City including the Bund, People’s Square, Shanghai Museum, Chenghuang Market Old Town, and Xin Tian Di Up Market area. After dinner, travel to the World Financial Centre for a panoramic view of Shanghai at night.

Day 03: Shanghai (B/-/-)

Enjoy a free day in Shanghai or take an optional tour to visit the nearby garden city of Suzhou and its classical Chinese gardens and the famous silk mill.

Day 04: Shanghai – Nanjing (B/L/D)

After breakfast, catch the high-speed rail to Nanjing and enjoy a full day sightseeing this ancient capital. A tour of the city includes The Ming Dynasty City Wall Museum and a Qing Dynasty style bazaar surrounding a Confucian Temple. Stay overnight at the Sheraton Nanjing or similar.

Day 05: Nanjing – Yichang (B/-/D)

After breakfast, free until transfer to railway station for your high-speed train to Yichang. You will be taken to enjoy a local dinner, before embarking on a four night upstream cruise along the Yangtze.
(The cruise excursion itinerary is subject to change)

Day 06: Ship Lock – Three Gorges Dam – Xiling Gorge (B/L/D)

Take an off-ship trip aboard a specially designed passenger boat through the world’s largest ship lock with ship lift. Visit the Three Gorges Dam with the world’s largest power station. After reboarding the ship, sail through the longest and deepest of the Three Gorges, the Xiling Gorge.
*Optional excursion to the Tribe of the Three Gorges Shore offers an insight in to life as a local (river conditions permitting)

Day 07: Small Gorges – Wu Gorge – Qutang Gorge (B/L/D)

Enjoy another off-ship excursion through Goddess Stream (conditions permitting, Shennong Stream may be substituted if river conditions aren’t favourable). Sail through the beauty of Wu Gorge, with steep cliffs, mystical mists, and mountainous forest.
*Optional excursion to White Emperor City to view cultural and historical relics, as well as the Kui Gate of Qutang Gorge (river conditions permitting)

Day 08: Shibaozhai (B/L/D)

Take a shore excursion to Shibaozhai and ‘The Pearl of the Yangtze’. An alternate excursion to Fengdu (new relocation village) may be substituted depending on river conditions.
*Optional excursion to Fengdu’s ‘Ghost City’ to see the haunting statues of Mingshan Hill (river conditions permitting)

Day 09: Chongqing (B/L/-)

Arrive in picturesque Chongqing in the morning, disembark after breakfast and transfer downtown to start your city tour including a visit to the Erlin Park, People’s Hall, and Three Gorges Museum. After a Sichuan Style Hot Pot lunch, tour to the ancient Ciqikou Town, Huguang Guild Hall, and Guild Halls, the largest architectural complex south of the Yangtze River. Stay overnight at the Hilton Chongqing or similar.

Day 10: Chongqing – Chengdu (B/L/-)

Spend the morning at leisure until boarding your express train to Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province. After lunch, travel out of town to visit the Panda Breeding Centre where you can see the Giant Panda and Little Panda. Check in to the Hilton Hotel or similar for two nights stay.

Day 11: Chengdu (B/L/D)

After breakfast, visit the Sichuan Cuisine Museum for a cooking class demonstration. Back in Chengdu in the afternoon you will visit Jingli Ancient Street, Kuanzhai Alley and Takooli upmarket area. For dinner enjoy an authentic Sichuan style set menu. An optional Face Changing cultural show can be arranged for tonight if time permits.

Day 12: Chengdu – Xi’an (B/-/D)

Morning flight to Xi’an. On arrival, meet and transfer to visit the Drum and Bell Tower Square, Muslim Quarter, and food market. Enjoy a sumptuous Dumpling banquet followed by a Tang Dynasty singing and dancing show. Stay at the Golden Flower Hotel.

Day 13: Xi’an (B/L/-)

Explore one of the World Heritage listed Terracotta Warriors and Horses. Visit Shaanxi History Museum on the way back to downtown Xi’an.

Day 14: Xi’an – Beijing (B/-/D)

After breakfast, fly to the capital of China, Beijing. Visit the Summer Palace and copy market if time permits. Enjoy a feast of Peking Duck for dinner.

Day 15: Beijing (B/L/-)

After breakfast, travel to the Great Wall and enjoy the panoramic views. There is an old saying that “you haven’t been to China until you have climbed the Great Wall”. Later visit the Ming Tombs.

Day 16: Beijing (B/L/D)

Highlights today include Tiananmen Square, the largest city centre square of its kind in China; the Forbidden City, where thousands of palaces and spellbinding treasures of artworks will give you a glimpse in to the royal life of Chinese emperors and concubines. In the afternoon, tour the incomparable Summer Palace. After dinner, enjoy an acrobatic show.

Day 17: Depart Beijing (B/-/-)

Enjoy your last moments in Beijing before boarding your flight home.

Day 18: Arrive Australia (-/-/-)

Arrive back in Australia in the morning.
