Day 1: Australia – Shanghai
Board your morning flight to Shanghai. Welcome to Shanghai ! Upon arrival, meet and transfer to Crowne Plaza Hotel Shanghai or similar for 3 nights stay.
Day 2: Shanghai (B,L,D)
Today enjoy Shanghai city tour including visit to the Bund, People’s Square, Shanghai Museum, Chenghuang market old town, Xin Tian Di up Market area, after dinner travel up to the World Financial Centre for the panoramic view of Shanghai at night.
Day 3: Shanghai (B)
Enjoy a free day in Shanghai or take an optional tour to visit the nearby garden city Suzhou and its classical Chinese gardens and the famous silk mill. Overnight in Shanghai.
Day 4: Shanghai – Nanjing (B,L,D)
After Breakfast, High-speed rail to Nanjing and enjoy full day sightseeing of this ancient capital, a city tour includes The Ming Dynasty City Wall Museum and a Qing Dynasty style bazaar surrounding a Confucian Temple; Overnight stay at Sheraton Nanjing or similar.
Day 5: Nanjing – Yichang (B, D)
Free at leisure until we transfer you to the railway station for your high-speed rail to Yichang. On arrival, transfer to have local dinner before check-in at Victoria cruise terminal for your exciting 5 days Yangtze River cruise. Overnight on board.
Day 6: Yichang – Xiling Gorge – Three Gorges Dam (B,L,D)
This morning, sail through Gezhou Dam near Yichang. In the afternoon, visit the Three Gorges Dam, the largest in the world. Sail through Xiling Gorge, the longest (41 miles), and the deepest of the Three Gorges. Later today, enter the Three Gorges Dam ship locks.
Day 7: Wu Gorge – Qutang Gorge – Shennong Stream (B,L,D)
Enter Wu Gorge, known for its quiet beauty and forest covered mountains. Then sail through Qutang Gorge, the shortest (5 miles), narrowest (500 feet), and most dramatic gorge. Take an excursion through the Shennong Stream Small Gorges, which are narrower than the Three Gorges, but very impressive. (Depending on river conditions, an alternate excursion may be substituted to the Daning River or Goddess Stream, which have their own attractive gorges.) Additional Shore Excursion to White Emperor City (river conditions permitting), an ancient city overlooking the western end of Qutang Gorge.
Day 8: Fengdu (B,L,D)
Take a shore excursion to Fengdu, visiting either the “Ghost City”, known for its statues of ghosts and devils on Mingshan Hill, or the new relocation village, built for families who have moved as a result of the Yangtze’s rising waters brought about by the Three Gorges Dam.
Day 9: Chongqing (B,L)
Arrive in Picturesque Chongqing in the morning at 8:00am, disembark the cruise after breakfast, transfer to downtown and start your city tour including a visit to the Erlin Park, People’s Hall and Three Gorges Museum, dedicated to protecting the history and culture of the Three Gorges area. After Sichuan Style hotpot lunch, touring to the Ancient Ciqikou Town, Huguang Guild Hall and the largest architectural complex of Guild Halls south of the Yangtze River. Overnight at Hilton Chongqing or similar.
Day 10: Chongqing – Chengdu (B,L)
Free at leisure until we transfer you to board your express train to Chengdu. The capital city of Sichuan province. After lunch, travel out of town to visit Panda breeding centre where you can see the giant pandas and little panda. Check in at Hilton Hotel or similar for 2 nights stay.
Day 11: Chengdu (B,L,D)
After breakfast, visit Sichuan Cuisine Museum with a cooking class demonstration. Back to Chengdu in the afternoon and visit Jingli Ancient Street, Kuanzhai Alley and Takooli upmarket area. Dinner enjoy authentic Sichuan style set menu. An Optional Face Changing Cultural Show can be arranged tonight if time permits.
Day 12: Chengdu – Hong Kong (B)
Free at your leisure after breakfast until transfer to airport for your flight to Hong Kong. On arrival, transfer to your downtown hotel for 3 nights stay.
Day 13-14: Hong Kong (B)
Enjoy your free day in Hong Kong. Shop till you drop or simply wandering along the Victoria Harbour, take some photos at Golden Bauhinia Square, enjoy a boat ride at Aberdeen Fishing Village, travel by Star Ferry to the other side of the city or simply have a Double Decker bus ride, enjoy delicious Cantonese Yum Cha and cuisine at your own pace. Alternatively, book a day trip to nearby Macau and watch the famous House of Dancing Water Show.
Day 15: Hong Kong – Australia (B)
After breakfast, free of leisure, later afternoon transfer to airport for your flight back to Australia.
Day 16: Arrive Australia
Arrive home in the morning with a lifetime experience.
