Luang Prabang

Set amidst a striking mountainous skyline, Luang Prabang is perhaps the best preserved traditional city in Southeast Asia. This UNESCO World Heritage listed city is the gem of Laos and was the Royal residence of the last King, Sisavan Vatthana.

Founded by the French in 1905 as an administrative outpost, Pakse is now the third biggest city in Laos. Situated at the confluence of the Mekong River and the Se Don River, Pakse is ideally located as a base to many of Laos’s sites such as Vat Phou and the Si Phan Don.

Phonesavan was one of the most heavily bombed places during the American War in Vietnam. Known as the ‘Gateway to the Plain of Jars’, an archaeological site littered with large stone jars. Athough there are lots of theories as to why they are there and their possible uses no one has been able to explain their existence definitively.

Vang Vieng

Vang Vieng, is a scenic town nestled on the Nam Song River. The town is approximately 4 hours drive from Vientiane city. Well-known for its karst hill landscape lining the west bank of the river, these mountains have many caves and tunnels, some yet still unexplored.

Weaving along the Mekong River, Vientiane is the capital and the largest city in Laos, however, it is still small enough to get to know easily. The treelined boulevards and old temples impart an old world charm, in spite of bustling traffic.
