Day 01: Arrive Kochi (-/-/-)
You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel for the next two nights. The rest of the day is free at your leisure.
Day 02: Kochi (B/L/-)
This morning you will venture out on a half day tour of Kochi. Visit Mattancherry, the location of the oldest Jewish Synagogue in India, decorated with ornate hand painted tiles and 19th Century Belgian chandeliers. Stroll through the town and see the Dutch Palace and its coronation hall. Continue from there to see the famous Chinese fishing nets in the harbour. You will then visit St Francis Church, said to be the oldest European Church in India. For lunch you are in for a treat, with a local gastronomic experience at a stunning waterfront eatery. After your meal you will return to your hotel. In the evening you will be entertained by a traditional Kathakali dance performance. Combining dance, drama, music, and art, you will be astounded and mesmerised by the actors stunning performance.
Day 03: Kochi – Thekkady (B/-/-)
After breakfast you will drive from Kochi to Thekkady, stopping en route at the Rubber Nurseries. Here you will learn about the history of rubber plants, as well as different methods of cultivation. On arrival in Thekkady you will check in to your hotel for the night, then visit the Spice Plantation and Spice Market. Immerse yourself in locally grown spices, and learn about their cultivation and uses. Afterwards, continue to the plantation town of Kumily. In the evening you will enjoy an interactive cooking demonstration using local spices at your hotel.
Day 04: Thekkady – Alleppey (B/L/D)
In the morning you will continue by road to Alleppey. On arrival you will embark on your overnight houseboat journey. Float through the backwaters of Kerala, passing through canals and admiring the scenery. You will enjoy lunch and dinner on board. Please note that air conditioning on board is operational from sunset to sunrise only.
Day 05: Alleppey – Kumarakom (B/-/-)
Wake up on board to breakfast, then disembark on arrival in Kumarakom. Check in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. The village of Kumarakom includes small islands and blue backwaters, with vibrant paddy fields spread throughout.
Day 06: Kumarakom (B/-/-)
Continue exploring Kumarakom at your leisure.
Day 07: Kumarakom – Depart Kochi (B/-/-)
The day is free at your leisure until it is time to transfer back to Kochi for your onward flight.
