This amazing holiday is the perfect introduction to beautiful Sri Lanka. Enjoy exploring the historical and sometimes UNESCO World Heritage Listed Sites, learning about local life, and trying out some of the many modes of transport on this beautiful island. Day 01: Arrive Colombo – Negombo (-/-/-)

On arrival in Colombo, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Negombo for the night.

Day 02: Negombo – Pinnawella – Dambulla (B/-/-)

After breakfast, you will drive to Dambulla, stopping at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. The Orphanage is home to abandoned and wounded elephants, as well some that have been raised in the captive breeding program. Upon arrival in Dambulla you will check in to your hotel for the next two nights.

Day 03: Dambulla – Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa – Dambulla (B/-/-)

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, then visit the famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Also known as Lion Rock, the ancient structure is one of Sri Lanka’s most popular landmarks. It was once home to a luxurious palace and gardens, with unique Sinhala painting in one of the stairways. After exploring Sigiriya, you will transfer to Polonnaruwa, home to many well preserved ancient monuments, before returning to your hotel in Dambulla.

Day 04: Dambulla – Matale – Kandy (B/L/-)

Today you travel to Hiriwadunna to learn about traditional local life. During your village tour you will enjoy oxen cart and catamaran rides, and learn how to cook traditional Sri Lankan cuisine. You will enjoy a delicious classic Sri Lankan buffet for lunch, before travelling to Matale. In Matale you will explore the fragrant spice gardens, as well as learn about the manufacturing of traditional Batik prints. You will also have the opportunity to purchase spices and prints to take home. Finish the day transferring to Kandy and checking in to your hotel for the next two nights.

Day 05: Kandy (B/-/-)

Spend the morning wandering through the beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya. The Gardens are home to over 4,000 species of trees, plants, and creepers, with many rare and endemic species. The Spice Garden, Orchid House, and Palm Avenues are all outstanding areas to visit in the Gardens. In the afternoon you will enjoy a city tour of Kandy, including the famous Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Tonight includes evening entertainment, with the fantastic cultural dance show for your enjoyment.

Day 06: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya (B/-/-)

After breakfast you will check out of your hotel and enjoy the scenery on a train to Nuwara Eliya, where you will check in to your hotel for the night.

Day 07: Nuwara Eliya – Bentota (B/-/-)

Today you will enjoy a city tour of Nuwara Eliya, known as the ‘Little England’ of Sri Lanka due to the British influence in the area. Surrounded by beautiful mountains, valleys, waterfalls, and tea plantations, you will get to visit some of them before travelling to Bentota. Upon arrival in Bentota you will check in to your hotel for the next two nights.

Day 08: Bentota – Galle – Bentota (B/-/-)

Enjoy breakfast then travel to Galle where you will explore the area on a city tour. Built around a natural harbour, Galle is home to traditional lace makers and wood carvers, while also still handing shipping and sail boats. You will also get to wander through the World Heritage Listed Dutch Fort. Afterwards, you will visit the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery and enjoy a Madu Gaga Boat Ride, before travelling back to Bentota for the night.

Day 09: Bentota – Depart Colombo (B/-/-)

After breakfast in Bentota, you will spend your last day enjoying a city tour of Colombo. Rive through the tree lined Cinnamon Gardens, visit the Fort, the famous Pettah Bazaar, the Kayman’s Gate, Colombo Museum, the Natural History Museum, and traditional Dutch Churches and Buddhist Temples. You will then be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
