Day 01: Depart Australia (-/-/-)
Enjoy your overnight flight from Australia to Taipei, the capital of Taiwan.
Day 02: Arrive Taipei (-/-/-)
Upon arrival at Taoyuan International Airport, you will be met and transferred to the 5* Howard Plaza Hotel or similar for four nights stay. The remainder of the day will be free for you to explore at your leisure.
Day 03: Pingxi Sky Lantern – Taipei City (B/-/-)
See the amazing Sky Lantern in Pingxi Town, as well as Shifen Old Street and Waterfall. Return to Taipei and and join the afternoon tour of Taipei City, which includes the impressive Memorial Hall, National Palace Museum (home of 5000 year old Chinese Imperial arts and jade collections), Martyrs Shrine, and Handicraft Centre.
Day 04: Yehliu – Chiufen Village (B/-/-)
Travel to Keelung and explore Chung Ching Park, with its statue of the Goddess of Mercy and panoramic view of Keelung Harbour. Continue to Yehliu and see the rock formations that are known for the famous shapes they make. Return to Taipei for lunch before driving to the North East Coast and visiting Pitou Cape and Nanya Rock Formation. Arrive in Chiufen Village and explore where they used to mine gold. This Village gives you a fantastic insight in to the history of the area. Stay in Taipei for the night.
Day 05: Sanhsia – Yingko (B/-/-)
After breakfast, free at your leisure. You may use complimentary MRT Spend the morning free at leisure until meeting your guide in the afternoon for the drive to Sanhsia. The main attraction in this bustling town is Tsu Shih Temple, built in hour of Cheng Chao-Ying, a Sung Dynasty loyalist. Then travel to Yingko and see the hand painted replicas of elegant Ming and Chin vases. Yingko is the ‘Pottery Centre’ of the country, with narrow streets lined with shops selling earthenware tea sets and delicate figurines.
Day 06: Taipei – Nantou – Sun Moon Lake (B/-/-)
Travel to the beautiful Sun Moon Lake, home to the Thao Tribe (one of the original Aboriginal tribes of Taiwan). Take a bus tour around the Lake and visit Wenwu Temple, also known as the Literature Warrior Temple due to its dedication to the Masters of Pen and Sword. You will also stop at the Holy Monk Shrine and Ci En Pagoda. Check in to the Fleur de Chine Hotel and enjoy the natural hot springs. You can also enjoy the walking trails, cycling, hiking, or cruising on the Lake.
Day 07: Sun Moon Lake – Kaohsiung (B/-/-)
After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Monastery, the most sacred Buddhist place in Southern Taiwan. Here you can communicate with monks and nuns, learning about their lives and Buddhism. Enjoy a Buddhist Vegetarian Lunch (at your own cost) and see the Main Shrine with its Great Buddha Statue. Afterwards, drive to Kaohsiung, the second largest city in Vietnam. In Kaohsiung you will visit the Former British Consulate, Love River, and Lio Ho Night Market. Stay overnight at the Grand Hi-Lai Hotel or similar.
Day 08: Kaoshiung – Kenting – Chihpen Hot Spring (B/-/-)
Enjoy a morning tour to Kenting National Park and see the beautiful coral that surrounds three sides of the park. You will also stop at Eluanbi Lighthouse, Maobitou Coastal Scenic Area, and Longpan Park. Continue driving along the Southern Link Highway to Taitung, where you will check in to the Royal Chihpen Taitung or similar. Enjoy the hotels natural hot springs.
Day 09: Taitung – East Coast Scenic Area – Hualien (B/-/-)
Enjoy a tour of ‘Taiwan’s last unspoiled land’, the East Coast National Scenic Area. On the journey you will stop at Xiaoyeliu, Sanxiantai, Shitiping Terraced Steps, and the Marble factory and Showroom. Late in the afternoon you will transfer to Hualien for an overnight stay at the Silks Place Taroko or similar.
Day 10: Hualien – Taroko Gorge – Taipei (B/-/-)
Travel to the beautiful Taroko National Park by coach. Taoko Gorge has been carved deep in to the plentiful marble of the area, giving it the moniker ‘The Marble Gorge’. Along the winding road, through forest and cliffs, you will see the powerful Liwu River traversing through the marble boulders. On your journey you pass by the Tunnel of Nine Turns and the Ci Mu Bridge, stopping at Swallow Grotto, Changchun Temple, and Shakadang Trail. You will then return to Taipei with a stop a Qingshui Cliff and drive through the 12.9km long Syue-Shan Tunnel. Arrive around 6pm and check in to the Howard Plaza Hotel for two nights.
Day 11: Yangmingshan Hot Spring (B/-/D)
Spend the morning at leisure before an afternoon tour of Yangmingshan National Park. This mountainous area is known for its beautiful scenery and natural resources. You will relax in a bath of the mildly alkaline sulphuric hot springs. In the evening, enjoy a Mongolian BBQ Dinner, visit the Lungshan Temple, and wander the Hwashi Night Markets.
Day 12: Depart Taipei (B/-/-)
Enjoy the day at leisure before transferring to the airport for your flight home.
Day 13: Arrive Australia (-/-/-)
Arrive home in the morning.
