Leave the lodge after your last early morning game drive in direction Port Elizabeth and famous Garden Route. Pass Jeffrey’s Bay, a surfer’s paradise with enormous waves. Continue towards Tsitsikamma forest. This peculiar name comes from the Khoi language and means, the place of much water. Some giant yellowood trees grow in this indigenous forest. The Bloukrans Bridge has a clear span of arch of 272 metres and hosts bungee jumpers diving more than 200 metres down. Continue to Plettenberg Bay, also called millionaire’s paradise. The moderate, mild climate, the 3 spacious and safe beaches, the lagoon, and a river mouth have made it a popular holiday spot. Distance Travelled: 285km. Overnight and breakfast at Hog Hollow Country Lodge.

Day 04: Plettenberg Bay – Oudtshoorn (B/-/-)

Drive along the Garden Route and stop in Knysna for a stroll along its waterfront or join the Featherbed Nature Eco excursion (not included), which also starts from here. Day 05: Oudtshoorn (B/-/-)

You will have an early start and visit the Meerkat Magic Project before breakfast. Meerkats hate the cold, so they’re only up once sunlight hits their burrow. By then, you’ll be seated on portable chairs in a semi-circle, and you’ve had a full rundown on Meerkats and their intriguing lives. Return to the farm for breakfast, then continue with Oudtshoorn’s Cango Caves (entrance fees not included). Overnight and breakfast at De Zeekoe Guestfarm.

Day 06: Oudtshoorn – Swellendam/Robertson Valley (B/-/D)

Swellendam is situated in the shadow of the Langeberg mountain range near the Breede River. In the past, steam boats commuted from here down to Witsand at the mouth of the Breede River. Swellendam is the centre of the Overberg district, where next to canola and wheat the sheep industry plays a major economical part. The Drostdy museum complex with various 18th century buildings depicts history of this bygone area (no entrance fees or meals are included). Dinner, accommodation, and breakfast at Jan Harmsgat.

Day 07: Robertson – Cape Town (B/-/-)

Travel along the world’s longest wine route, route 62 towards Robertson. Enjoy boutique and organic wine farms which found fertile grounds and moderate climate to grow their fantastic produce here.
