Day 01: Depart Australia – Arrive Beijing (-/-/-)
Fly to Beijing. On arrival check in to the Nikko New Century Hotel or similar for four nights.
Day 02: Beijing (B/L/D)
After breakfast at the hotel, today’s highlights include tours of Tiananmen Square, the largest city centre square of its kind in China; the Forbidden City, the site of thousands of palaces and spellbinding artworks that will give you an in depth insight in to the royal life of Chinese Emperors and Concubines; and the Summer Palace, home of a World Heritage listed Imperial Garden. In the evening you will enjoy a feast of Peking Duck, as well as an entertaining acrobatic show.
Day 03: Beijing (B/L/D)
Wear comfortable walking shoes today as you will explore the Great Wall after breakfast. In the afternoon, enjoy a tour to the famous Ming Tombs. Return to Beijing for free time, shopping and walking along the famous Wangfujing Street.
Day 04: Beijing (B/L/-)
After breakfast, tour the Temple of Heaven. The focus here is the famed Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest, a round edifice constructed of wood without a single nail. Spend the afternoon at leisure; visiting local markets or explore Beijing at your own pace.
Day 05: Beijing – Xi’an (B/L/D)
Morning flight to Xi’an. On arrival, transfer to downtown and visit the Provincial History Museum where you can feast your eyes on thousands of treasures and precious historical relics. Check in at the Golden Flower hotel for two nights stay. For dinner, feast on a Dumpling Banquet followed by a show of Tang Dynasty singing and dancing.
Day 06: Xi’an (B/L/-)
After breakfast, today’s full day tour includes the world famous 6,000 life-size Terracotta Warriors and Horses, and the Wild Goose Pagoda.
Day 07: Xi’an – Guilin (B/-/D)
In the morning take a tour to the Drum and Bell Tower Square. You will also visit the Muslim Quarter and food market. Afternoon flight to Guilin and overnight at Sheraton Hotel or similar for three nights.
Day 08: Guilin – Yangshuo (B/L/-)
Relax on a spectacular Li River Cruise, whilst enjoying the breathtaking views as we travel to the town of Yangshuo.
Day 09: Yangshuo – Guilin (B/L/-)
Enjoy a visit to the colourful local markets before returning to Guilin by bus, visiting the Seven Star Cave in Seven Star Park on the way.
Day 10: Guilin – Chengdu (B/L/D)
Visit Elephant Trunk Hill and Mt Diecai to view the stunning karst landscape. Then fly to Chengu and transfer to the Sheraton Hotel or similar for two nights stay. Enjoy a delicious Sichuan Hot Pot for dinner, followed by the famous Face Changing Cultural Show.
Day 11: Chengdu (B/L/-)
Visit the Panda Breeding Centre where you can see the Giant Panda and Little Panda. Drive back to Chengdu and visit local tea houses and the ancient street of Jingli.
Day 12: Chengdu – Chongqing (B/L/-)
After breakfast, visit the Sichuan Cuisine Museum for a cooking class demonstration. In the afternoon, board your high-speed train to Chongqing. Chongqing is known as ‘The Mountain City’, famous for its super spicy Sichuan Hot Pot and its bicycle-free hilly streets.
Day 13: Chongqing – Three Gorges Cruise (B/L/-)
Start your tour this morning visiting Erling Park and the General Stilwell Museum. Then visit the Three Gorges Museum, dedicated to protecting the history and culture of the Three Gorges area. In the afternoon visit Hongyadong and Ciqikou old town. Enjoy free time shopping before transferring to the cruise terminal to board your Victoria cruise.
Day 14: Shibaozhai (B/L/D)
Take a shore excursion to Shibaozhai and ‘The Pearl of the Yangtze’. An alternate excursion to Fengdu (new relocation village) may be substituted depending on river conditions.
*Optional excursion to Fengdu’s ‘Ghost City’ to see the haunting statues of Mingshan Hill (river conditions permitting)
Day 15: Wu Gorge – Goddess Stream (B/L/D)
Sail through the beauty of Wu Gorge. Enjoy another off-ship excursion through Goddess Stream (conditions permitting).
*Optional excursion to White Emperor City to view cultural and historical relics, as well as the Kui Gate of Qutang Gorge (river conditions permitting)
Day 16: Three Gorges Dam – Yichang – Nanjing (B/L/-)
Sail through the longest and deepest of the Three Gorges, the Xiling Gorge. Visit the Three Gorges Dam with the world’s largest power station. Take an off-ship trip aboard a specially designed passenger boat through the world’s largest ship lock with ship lift. Disembark in the late morning and travel by high-speed train to Nanjing. On arrival, meet and transfer to the Hilton Nanjing.
Day 17: Nanjing (B/L/D)
A tour of the city includes the Ming Dynasty City Wall Museum and a Qing Dynasty style bazaar surrounding a Confucian Temple (we will ship your luggage to your hotel in Shanghai, an overnight bag is needed for your night in Hangzhou).
Day 18: Nanjing – Hangzhou (B/L/-)
In the morning travel by bullet train to picturesque Hangzhou. Enjoy a boat ride on the West Lake and visit the famous Dragonwell Green Tea Farm. Today’s tour will conclude with a visit to Linying Temple. Stay overnight at the Crowne Plaza Hangzhou or similar.
Day 19: Hangzhou – Shanghai (B/L/-)
Travel by high-speed train to Shanghai. Spend time visiting the historic Bund (one of the world’s best preserved examples of Art-Deco architecture, located adjacent to the Huangpu River), and the famous Nanjing Road Shopping District. Check in to the Sunrise On The Bund Hotel or similar.
Day 20: Depart Shanghai (B/-/-)
After breakfast, enjoy last minute shopping or explore the city until transfer to the airport for your flight home.
Day 21: Arrive Australia (-/-/-)
Arrive home in the morning with happy memories to last a lifetime.
