Day 01: Depart Australia (-/-/-)
Board your overnight flight to Hanoi.
Day 02: Arrive Hanoi (-/-/D)
Xin Chao! Welcome to Hanoi, Vietnam. You are greeted by your guide and driver at Noi Bai International Airport for your transfer to the hotel. In the evening you are invited by a Hanoian family for a warm and hospitable meal. Your meal will include authentic local dishes which are popular among the locals. Here, you can eat, chat and learn some basic Vietnamese phrases. Overnight at the Ann Hanoi hotel for 2 nights stay.
Day 03: Hanoi (B/L/-)
Head out to Ba Dinh Square, the political heart of modern Vietnam. This complex features the Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh, the founder of modern Vietnam. You can also see the Presidential Palace and Ho Chi Minh’s house on stilts in the park-like complex. Visit the nearby One Pillar Pagoda, The Temple of Literature was built in the 11th century and was the first university in Vietnam. Afternoon visit to The Ethnology Museum , The Old Quarter the bustling heart of Hanoi, which has been a commercial centre since King Ly Thai, It’s also a place you must see to experience Hanoi, where you will find shopping and cultural / historical sites all wrapped into one. Located in the heart of the city, Hoan Kiem Lake is a historical site and one of the symbols of Hanoi.
Day 04: Hanoi – Ninh Binh (B/L/-)
After breakfast, take the drive to Ninh Binh. Visit Hoa Lu, which was the capital under the Dinh and Early Le dynasties in Vietnam in the 10th and 11th century. Board a sampan for an extended journey along the winding river lined with trees and limestone mountains in Trang An. You will stop by several small, historic temples which are the pride of the area’s inhabitants. Overnight at Ninh Binh Legend Hotel.
Day 05: Ninh Binh – Halong Bay (B/L/D)
Breakfast at hotel before heading out to Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In Ha Long you will board your overnight cruise amongst the more than 3,000 limestone islands rising majestically out of the turquoise bay. You pass grand rock formations and quaint fishing towns and sample delicious lunch and dinner of freshly caught fish and seafood. Onboard Bhaya cruise. Note: Cruise itinerary and schedule are subject to change due to weather, tide levels and operating conditions. Swimming or kayaking excursions may be cancelled due to poor weather.
Day 06: Halong Bay – Hanoi – Lao Cai (B/L/-)
Start the day with calming Tai Chi on the sundeck, and you will have a chance to explore one of the beautiful caves before having buffet brunch on board. Back at the dock, you will be met and transferred to Hanoi Railway Station to catch the night train to journey up Lao Cai. Overnight on train.
Day 07: Lao Cai – Weekly tribal market Sa Pa (B/L/-)
Arriving in Lao Cai City in the early morning, you will have breakfast at a local restaurant, then be driven to visit a weekly colourful tribal market. This is a good place for taking photos and learning about the culture of the hill tribes living in the area. After reaching Sa Pa, you’ll check into your hotel and enjoy your rest of day on your own. Overnight at Sunny Mountain Hotel.
Day 08: Sa Pa – Lao Cai – Hanoi (B/L/-)
Drive along the Muong Hoa Valley and Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range to Lao Chai Village of the Black H’mong ethnic group. Visit Ta Van Village of the Dzay people. The Ta Phin Village, inhabited by the Red Dzao minority group. Travel back to Lao Cai Railway Station for the night train back to Hanoi. Overnight on train.
Day 09: Hanoi – Hue (B/-/-)
Arrive at Hanoi Railway Station in the early morning. Have breakfast at a local restaurant and transfer to Noi Bai Airport for the morning flight to Hue. Upon arrival, you are picked up and transferred to your hotel.The garden house tradition is a unique characteristic of Hue which offers a glimpse into royal relatives and mandarins’ bygone lifestyle. The Imperial City at Hue is the best-preserved remnant of a vast citadel and royal quarters that once existed on the site. Day 10: Hue (B/-/-)
Take a boat ride up the romantic Huong River, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the river. Stop at the 7-storey Thien Mu Pagoda. Emperor Tu Duc’s Tomb is a sprawling compound centred around a lake and including numerous separate memorials connected by pleasant walkways. At Thanh Tien Village you’ll have a chance to talk with the villagers who specialise in making paper flowers. Visit a small Museum of Farming Tools to learn more about local farming life before returning to your hotel.
Day 11: Hue – DaNang – Hoi An (B/-/-)
Follow your drive to Hai Van Pass, the border of Hue and Da Nang. Great photo opportunities here. After checking into hotel, we starts a leisure walk into the Ancient Town – Walk the streets of Hoi An, lined with Chinese traders’ homes and wooden houses reincarnated as restaurants, cafés, and outlets for local artists, craftsmen and tailors. Overnight at Vinh Hung Riverside Resort & Spa Hoi An or similar.
Day 12: Hoi An (B/-/-)
You’ll walk through the vegetable gardens of Tra Que village, experience how the local farmers work the land and learn about the history of the village and the importance of herbs in Vietnamese medicine and cuisine. Join in a lantern making class and discover your inner skill and keep your handiwork as a souvenir. The afternoon is free at leisure to enjoy this ancient city at your own pace.
Day 13: Hoi An – Da Nang – Nha Trang (B/-/-)
Transfer to Da Nang Airport for the flight to Nha Trang. Upon arrival pick up and transfer to your hotel. The afternoon is free at leisure in your hotel or on the beach: swimming, sunbathing, strolling around the city or tasting the fresh seafood. Check in Rosaka Nha Trang for 2 nights stay.
Day 14: Nha Trang (B/L/-)
We cruise through blue clear waters amongst the islands off Nha Trang. You make an excursion by local boat exploring nearby islands for a cooling swim in the pristine waters, snorkelling from the boat or enjoying a beach sojourn in the shade of coconut palms. A fresh seafood lunch is also available on the boat.
Day 15: Nha Trang – Ho Chi Minh City (B/-/-)
Fly to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival, you are picked up and transferred to your hotel Muong Thanh Ho Chi Minh City Centre for 2 nights stay. City tour in the afternoon includes visit to The War Remnants Museum, the Reunification Palace, the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Ho Chi Minh City Central Post Office, a classic French colonial structure, is still a functioning post office today.
Day 16: Ho Chi Minh City – Tay Ninh – Cuchi Tunnels (B/-/-)
You will visit the Cao Dai Temple by driving to nearby Tay Ninh Province. You will explore the site and watch the colourful noon mass held by Cao Dai followers. Continue drive to Cu Chi Tunnels where more than 200kms of tunnels were built by the Communist guerrillas during the war, you will spend the next hour exploring the maze of tunnels to see how the Viet Cong survived in this underground network. Return to Ho Chi Minh City for overnight stay.
Day 17: Ho Chi Minh City – Ben Tre – Can Tho (B/L/-)
Head south to Ben Tre in the Mekong Delta. Upon arrival, set out on a boat trip on narrow channels winding through coconut forest. Stop at brick and coconut processing workshops to see how locals make bricks by hand and have a chance to jump on your bike, cycle on village roads through local hamlets, rice fields and coconut groves.Continue to drive to Can Tho for an overnight stay at Muong Thanh Luxury Can Tho.
Day 18: Can Tho – Ho Chi Minh City (B/-/-)
Step onboard a boat to visit Cai Rang floating market. Take in the daily activities of the locals who live along the Mekong canals. Binh Thuy Ancient House is a well-preserved, charismatic house with both French and Vietnamese design features. Drive back to Ho Chi Minh City for overnight stay.
Day 19: Depart Ho Chi Minh City (B/-/-)
The day is free at your leisure until transfer to Tan Son Nhat International Airport for your departure flight.
Day 20: Arrive Australia (-/-/-)
Arrive home in the morning.
